On this episode of American Dream TV, Hosts Karlyn Nelson, Lacy Register, and Tim Lind visit scenic, historic Mid City, right in the heart of Los Angeles to visit Surfas Culinary District...an LA institution. Surfas is where LA's restauranteurs and foodies come to shop. Some say it's LA's best kept secret for the world's best ingredients. If you want to cook like a chef, Surfas is where you'll want to be. The Nelson+ Register Team interviews Frank and Vanessa Casares, who have been running Surfas for years, to learn the ingredients behind this hugely successful culinary mecca. They also grab a bite at Surfas Cafe, tasting the signature tomato and fig panini, before heading to a stunning, Swiss Chalet Craftsman full of charm and character that they listed just down the street in Mid City.
The Mid City area was once a key junction in the days of the electric railways from the early 1900s through the early 1960s. It's centrally located, nestled west of downtown and east of Culver City, sitting just north of the 10 Freeway. This provides easy access to so many of the city's incredible neighborhoods. Mid City has a perfect blend of historic and more modern homes ranging from Spanish bungalows to incredible Craftsmans like this one.
You can also find them on The American Dream Network, streaming on AppleTV, Roku and Amazon Fire.
